Bale > Everything

I'm happy with the performance. No need to start theorising about how the second half would have played out had Popov not spat at Walker. You could however wish to spend a whimsical moment or two wondering what might have been had we been successful with signing Leandro Damaio (as it appears Spurs were involved throughout January in another futile attempt to sign the player). I think it's perhaps time we focused on a different tier of player, say someone like Romelu Lukaku - cheaper, potential, not necessarily someone who would demand constant first team appearances allowing for rotation with our other two strikers.

I came close to abducting Mila Kunis

Everyone fully recovered from the exhausting bore that was propaganda transfer day sponsored by Sky Sports and fuelled by the inevitable soon to be broken dreams masquerading as hope? Of course you have. We all allow ourselves to be seduced. A one night stand that resembles an orgy, considering how many people tune it to then be f**ked over.

You've killed Tottenham Hotspur

Don't fret. It's going to happen. Levytime. It's all about brinkmanship, there's a strategy to it, it's calculated and Machiavellian. It has to all happen on the last day so that we get the best deal otherwise the opposing club and chairman has all the power. Let them think we're not interested, then...BOOM! We're in there with a last gasp bid which simply can't be turned down leaving us with twenty minutes to agree all the contractual stuff with the player, the medical, payment plan, agent fees and any potential work permits.

Metro musings

I've been writing for the Metro. Here's a collection of my musings so far (since early January). You might choose to laugh at my 'transfer predictions' or the irony of being constrained to 500 words per article. Either way, knock yourselves out.

Beast Bale out

I'll spare you any detailed analysis of last nights performance on account of it not being that much of a performance. A continuation of sorts from the Leeds cup match. No cohesiveness from the back-line into central midfield and further onto the final third of the pitch. Fluidity has been lacklustre. Sure, we're missing Sandro immensely. The intensity he offers allows for so much more structure than we currently have. Parker is either not back to 100% match fitness (understandably considering his injury lay-off) or he's lost a little bite due to his age and the general burn out he suffered and lost time.

Waiting for that monolith to drop

Excited? Just another day to get through and transfer deadline day is upon us. Norwich away to get through first. Defoe fit and ready (thanks to an injection). Holtby in the squad - so cue ridiculously high expectations for him to morph into a hybrid of Modric and van der Vaart with countless assists and goals. Or else the Tottenham Facebook army will run havoc and chaos with disdain. All AVB's fault is the mantra if you've already forgotten it.

Pace, creativity, clever feet

Lewis Holtby in early. Makes me wonder if this has happened because of injuries to other players (Sandro out, Dembele always fitting to be fight) and a lack of true CM depth in the creative category (considering the deal was originally done for the summer). No doubt, everyone is going to go loopy with expectations once he dons a Lilywhite shirt. We've all been banging on about the lack of a player with subtle touch and disguised genius, so welcome to the Lane Lewis and get assisting please. In your own time mate.

I wonder if anyone was watching?

The game is about glory. The game is also about heartache. Something synonymous with Tottenham and the FA Cup since the hedonistic days of the 80s which tease us from afar with their iconic flashbacks and growthy beards.  Sunday was disheartening because it was so transparent. Plucky up-for-it non-top tier side out-desire disjointed top tier side who fail to match up to their pre-match tittle tattle about Wembley dreams.

Price Threepence

It's been a long old week. Spent mostly waving a fist at the impeccable timing that has seen me fall ill after untold months without a single white flag from my immune system. Hence the lack of any creative juice. Hence the lack of any commentary on our beloved club. Not that there's anything to comment on. I guess besides this Holtby saga which is probably already 'sorted' but for the sake of narrative will drag onto the last day of the window when we announced we've signed him minutes before the deadline.

Remember the catalyst?

Back when we played Arsenal away I stated the game could be a catalyst much like it was last season when they never looked back and we fell all the way back. This seasons fixture was not quite a a pivotal moment in the season however our reaction since that defeat has been superb.

Spurs win 1-1

In a strange way this single point feels as important as any three we've taken this season. Not in a patronising way. This was hardly little old Tottenham claiming a precious draw against the beastly might of Manchester. This was about validating the desire and determination on show, the persistent and relentless work ethic displayed to get the ball forward and to some how make that incisive break-through. This was about psychology as much as it was about the kicking of a ball.

Tick tock

"Two points from third place is nothing in the Premier league. It's good to see that third place isn't going away" - Andre Villas-Boas

Do we have enough to make third our own? Ask most Spurs fans and they'll argue we probably don't now that Sandro is out for the rest of the season. Out for the season. Sandro - out, season. No matter how many times I write it or think it I still find myself questioning it. Sandro looks set to miss the next 4 to 5 months or 7 to 8 months depending how positive you wish to be.

Belong

I'm in one of those moods. Slightly detached and disinterested. I'm busy with work and too tired to play. I've only caught snippets of news so far this week from quickly dipping my feet into the muddy waters of social media. Got some musings to share, so will just throw them all at this blog and whatever mess I make you're free to clear it out of your cache.

Bricked it

QPR 0 Tottenham 0

Funny how the scenario I didn't mention in the match preview is the scenario that frustratingly plays out. QPR displayed the same level of tenacity that a bricklayer would when building a wall. We stood watching with graffiti canisters, failing to spray anything memorable on it. Hardly even left a tag.

Stripped down

The game, tomorrow, it's not half as big or important as some would have you believe. It's a side in form against a side that has no form.

We are the side in form, spirited away from home. A side full of quality and sitting 3rd in the league with ambitions to consolidate that position. QPR are in a dogfight they rarely turn up for. Disjointed, erratic. An anomaly of a win against Chelsea has given them hope, but they remain brittle.

If you strip away all the narrative and the glossed over sound-bites and superfluous attempts at creating headlines in the build up to this - what are you left with?

He's got them dancing through hoops

Andre Villas-Boas and press conferences. Good solid pace, nothing overly spectacular but gets the job done with a touch of flair, much like his team. I'm not about to take more pot shots at Harry Redknapp and his more bubbly soundbitey tell the world everything style when sat in front of the media. For a time it was good to have someone the press liked, took the pressure off. Even though in the end it proved wholly detrimental and created a false bubble that burst with his departure.

Should have kept it on the low

It's been confirmed by Spurs that Emmanuel Adebayor is departing for Africa.

He's available for the QPR game this Saturday then he's off with Togo to the African Cup of Nations between 19th January and 10th February (or earlier depending on how quickly Togo get knocked out).

So he's changed his mind although from the looks of it his intention was always to represent his country. He just wanted certain guarantees from them before he committed. Which is fair enough from his own personal perspective and ambition

What have you done to this club?

Dear Mr Levy,

We've not spoken for a while. I've been busy on a variety of projects. I now run an up-skirt video and pics website and as you can imagine this is a laborious and time consuming activity, having to collate content for it. Regardless, I remain obsessed with Tottenham. Just a little less obsessed with breaking and entering. Hence why we've not meet in your kitchen in the late hours of the night (a consequence of my sleep-walking which the judge took into consideration during sentencing).

A shot in the dark

Tottenham are going to bid for a player, probably, possibly quite soon (soon equating to the next three and a half weeks). The bid, once made, will be official and you'll have heard about it here first, making this article an exclusive.

Yes, another day, another non-event of nothingness. I actually wish I didn't have to write this. Mainly because if there is something that's more unoriginal than transfer headline attention seeking it's an article taking the p*ss out of transfer headline attention seeking. But alas, I have very little to work with currently mainly because Harry Redknapp has yet to carpet bomb the tabloids with explosive soundbites leading up to the game of the century (QPR v Tottenham).

So what about that nothingness?
